Sensory Garden
Shifnal Millennium Sensory Garden was formed in 1998 with the task of producing a permanent celebration of the Millennium for the town of Shifnal in Shropshire.
The late Mr Simon Walding BSc(Hons), a local professional landscape architect, agreed to produce a design for the garden. The garden was officially opened on 18th May 2002 after the volunteers of the garden had raised enough money through fundraising events. The garden is designed to be accessible for people of all ages and abilities (wheelchair friendly). The garden attracts a variety of wildlife and we have a hedgehog hide and bug hotels as well as lots of bird boxes. Wide footpaths, seating areas, raised flower beds, planting designed for scent, colour, texture, sound and touch are features of the garden. There is a sculpture in the garden which was donated by the late Mrs Pat Austin (wife of the late David Austin Roses).
The garden is located between Innage Road and St Andrew’s Church Yard and is open 24/7 all year round.
